Bobby and I had our three year anniversary last week. Amazing. Of course, this year it fell on the busiest week we've had yet - everyday on the calendar was booked for something. This weekend we had a family reunion in Cortez, Colorado, and decided to see if we couldn't slip something fun while we were up there.
Bobby's Aunt Sheryl owns a cabin about half an hour away from Cortez and we decided to try it out Friday night. (Hotels were ridiculous this weekend - the rodeo finals are going again in Farmington and the hotels are taking advantage of it.) It's a cabin they're slowly building and adding onto a little at a time. They lease it out to hunters during the hunting seasons, so of course it was fully of hunting decor (antlers anyone?) It also had their number one priority - a big screen tv.

Driving to the cabin we passed between some wheat fields. The road was lower than the fields were, so we felt like we were driving through a tunnel. Add the hordes of grasshoppers which flew out in front of us and it seemed like a Star Wars game or something.
Far view of the cabin. It's all solar powered and the front side has an enclosed patio which was great to watch the wildlife. Mostly squirrels for us, but elk were spotted last weekend and it sounds like the deer enjoy hanging around too. We think we heard a coyote.

Back side of the cabin.

We pushed the furniture around to where we liked it.

You gotta' have pancakes at a cabin for breakfast!

The cook. In the kitchen.

They had a awesome spiral staircase that connected the upstairs, main level, and basement all together. And of course, the hubby was snitching breakfast as the pancakes came off the griddle.
It was a fun little get away in an otherwise hectic week.

Fun! I'm glad you guys got away for a little while for your anniversary. And I won't complain TOO much that we didn't get a clear shot at that baby bump since we'll get to see it in person this weekend!
